Hello World

Hello there.  My name is Melissa Pribyl, I am a born and raised Alaskan with a passion for creating, my community, and meaningful experiences.    In college I decided to minor in studio art, with my main focus on Interior Design.  I currently work in Anchorage Alaska and joke frequently that I create and work, and I create at home.  It is a true passion of mine to be able to capture a story, a culture, a movement, or a simple feeling whether that be in the 3 dimensional world of Interior Design, or the 2 dimensional world of Art.   

Painting is my style of journalism, it is the essence of who i am at any given time.  When inspiration hits me all I can think about is how I can translate that into my medium of the day.  I have recently been experimenting with different mediums, but will always have a strong love for oil, and its infinite life-cycle, and slow, calming process.  It takes many meaningful layers to work together to create something that speaks to you. 

It takes one person sometimes to light a fire inside, and to give you enough confidence to "go for it".  I can vividly remember that first show, back in 2010, where I felt like my entire life was on display to complete strangers. I felt like an open book, as if people could read my personal thoughts and know how broken my heart was at that  time in my life.  But what I realized more that anything that month, (as I conveniently stopped in to grab my coffee everyday) was that I was able to connect to complete strangers.  I was able to spark wonder, ask questions, and hopefully create a pleasing visual experience for them.

I realized that when you are passionate about something, it speaks louder than anything else.  So today, I share with you some of my favorite things!
